The Tiny Thieves called Rust

In the busy little town of Metalville, there lived a strong, shiny guard named Iron. He stood tall at the town gates every single day, wearing his silver armour. Everyone in Metalville trusted him to keep the town safe—nothing could break through Iron’s strength.

Or so he thought.

One misty morning, while Iron was keeping watch, a group of sneaky visitors tiptoed into town. They were so small that no one noticed them. They wore cloaks the colour of burnt orange and called themselves Rust. They weren’t just visitors—they were thieves.

“We’ll take a little piece of Iron’s armour,” whispered one of the Rust thieves. “If we work together, we can make it weaker.”

Rust had a secret weapon: water from the morning rain and air from the windy skies. Whenever water and air met on Iron’s armour, the Rust thieves grew stronger. First, they made tiny spots on his armour turn reddish-brown. Then, they spread, slowly but surely, stealing more and more of his shiny strength.

At first, Iron didn’t notice. “A few spots? No big deal,” he thought. But as days passed, he started feeling tired. His armour wasn’t smooth anymore; it was rough and crumbly. The thieves were winning.

“Help!” Iron quickly called his friend Paint. Paint rushed over with a colourful coat. “This will keep the thieves away!” Paint explained. She covered Iron’s armour so water and air couldn’t sneak in. And it worked—without water and air, the Rust thieves couldn’t grow, and they packed up their orange cloaks and scurried away.

From that day on, Iron wore his coat of Paint whenever he stood at the gates. Sometimes, Oil or Grease would come by to give extra protection. And whenever rain fell or the wind blew, Iron smiled, knowing the Rust thieves couldn’t touch him again.

Now in Metalville, everyone knows: rust might be tiny, but if you let it, it can steal your strength. But with the right friends, you can stop it in its tracks.
