Water was in her room, standing in front of her big, wobbly mirror. She had been invited to the Big Nature Party, and she wanted to look absolutely perfect. But there was a problem. She had three very different outfits… and she couldn’t decide which one to wear!
The first was her smooth, shiny Liquid Dress. When she put it on, it swished and flowed all around her. She could pour, splash, and fit into any shape—a cup, a bottle, even a puddle! “This feels lovely,” she said, twirling. “I could dance all night in this.” But she worried… if it got too cold, she might shiver and change into something else.
Next, she tried her sparkly Solid Gown. It made her look like an ice princess, stiff and glittery. “I could skate with Snow and play with Ice Cube in this,” she giggled. But when she tried to spin, she couldn’t move very well. “And if it gets warm, I’ll melt right out of this gown,” she sighed.
Finally, she tried her Gas Cape. Whoosh! She felt light as a feather and floated around the room. She could zip here and there, play in the clouds, and even visit the Sun. “This is fun!” she laughed. But then she frowned. “What if nobody notices me? I’m almost invisible!”
Water sat on her bed, staring at the outfits. She liked all of them for different reasons and didn’t know which one to choose. Just then, her friend Sun peeked through the window. “Why not wear all three?” Sun said. “You can change whenever you like.”
Water gasped, her eyes going wide. “HOW?!” she cried, jumping to her feet so quickly that her Gas Cape swirled around her. “You mean… I can switch outfits like magic?”
Sun chuckled warmly. “Oh yes, my friend. When I’m far away and it’s cold, you freeze into your sparkly Solid Gown—that’s ice! When I shine gently and it’s warm, you melt into your flowing Liquid Dress—water. And when I shine my hottest, you twirl into your invisible Gas Cape—steam—and float up to the sky! You are the only one at the party who can change as easily as the wind.”
With this new information, Water twirled, slid, and floated—changing from gown to dress to cape and back again, laughing the whole way through the party! By the end of the night, Water realised she didn’t have to choose just one outfit.
And from that day, Water never worried about what to wear again.
Because she knew… she could be anything.
